Today it stuck me how that every once in a while, in our crazy busy, super amped up (yet often mundane) chaotic lives, sometimes things just click—without you expecting them to. And things work out—better than you expected them to. So, with joy and a pinch of sadness, I remind myself that, “hey, it’s all going to work out in the end.” Because, after all, the show must go on.

A Fun Rockabilly inspired DIY

Check out these cute hair clips I made last night. They were easy to make and didn't take me longer than an hour to do! I've pasted a link below so you can make your own, if you like. The project is from a site called Cut Out + Keep. This site has hundreds of projects for you to try—perfect for the rainy season. As you can see, I tweaked my hair clips a little and you can get as creative as you want with this simple project.

Made your own? I'd love to hear from you and see your creations!

Halloween is approaching...

This year, Halloween snuck up extra fast. I hadn't planned on dressing up this year (even though Halloween is one of my favorite holidays), until I thought of the perfect costume. After having browsed the Internet for creative ideas, I've decided to be a dia de los muertos girl. One of my favorite parts about this costume is that it incorporates a vintage pinup look with the morbid—what could be better for Halloween? I've attached the picture that inspired me (I really like her hair and maroon eye shadow) and also the flower I made for my costume. The flower is made of silk flower petals, that have a rustic, decayed look. I also added a bit of black netting. Let me know what you think!

A fun DIY Project!

I spotted this fun project while scanning Pinterest. I haven't tried the project yet but thought it was very cute. Let me know if you have any luck.

Back from my hiatus

Don't you hate it when you start reading a blog and all of a sudden the author decides to disappear for a while and not contribute!? I know I do. So I apologize to my mystery blog friends who have been disappointed with my lack of posts.

Here are a few pictures of my latest creation. This flower is for a friend's October wedding. Although it turned out a little larger than I was anticipating, I think it is beautiful and is actually the perfect size.

Pretty nails

These pink nails are my favorite.
Definitely quirky!
SO cute!

I haven't kept up with my blogging as much as I would have liked these past two weeks—or my flower crafting. It seems like so many things are going on at once and it's hard just to stay afloat. That being said my gut feeling that something was to soon change and get shaken up in my life has proven to be true. I'm excited to see what is in store for the future but also a bit anxious. This weekend was tough on me. Besides being a bit moody in general (and probably not too fun to be around), my anxiety got the best of me. Not to mention my softball team (previously undefeated) lost our first playoff game—which means we're done for the season. Anyhow...the winds are a changin' and the plot unfolding...

Awesome custom made flowers

A friend recently shared the following Etsy blog with me: http://www.etsy.com/people/ClarkandDiversey?ref=ls_profile.
I have to say that the flowers found on this site are SO beautiful and SO inspiring! What do you think? I hope to be this good some day! Below is a picture of the flower that I will be creating for Bre's October wedding. Beautiful, right?

Monday Inspiration

Anyway

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centered; Forgive them anway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives; Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies; Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you; Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight; Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous; Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; Do good anyway.
Give the word the best you have, and it may never be enough; Give the world the best you've got anyway.

You see, in th final analysis, it is between you and your God; It was never between you and them anway.

Here are a few pictures of my current project I'm working on for Bre's wedding in October! She requested I make her fuscia flowers to match her bridesmaid's black and pink dresses. They've turned out quite well, I must say. I still have to add clips to the back! After that, it's time to start working on the big project—the bride's flower!

In a time where women were women...

What is it about the pinup day of old that we find so fascinating? There's something about women from a certain era that exude beauty—a thick layer of sensuality without hinting too heavily. Here's a lovely modern picture that I came across that's a throwback to the woman I'm talking about.

The Brooklyn

This latest fascinator was inspired by a friend of mine who loves barbies and is currently working on a "distorted childhood" tattoo theme. The girl is gorgeous and has more tattoos than anyone I know! So, this one's called the "Brooklyn" or the "Brookie B" for short.

Wonderland

I've decided to share with you my recent travel article featured on Ark and Tent's website that chronicles the last leg of my Costa Rican adventure at the beginning of this summer. My boyfriend and I had such a wonderful time—Costa Rica is a place I will definitely be returning to. Have any pictures of a favorite vacation? Feel free to post.

Let's Reminisce

Tumblr_lopbrt83ar1qbnx4mo1_500_large

Peaches

Today I had a flashback, of two young faces in the sun—
Love was just a distant game, and life had just begun.
Everything was easy and days just came and went,
No worries of despair or loss, no fears of abandonment.
But just as summer always came too late, and winter always to0 soon,
Two young girls flirting with the hands of time, could not hide from the changing moon.
Sometimes I think back to our early days and smile with a half cracked grin,
When I think of innocence departed—curiosity’s twin sister, sin.
Hazy, sun drenched memories appear of two girls running through a grove—
Patches of light and darkness around their figures float.

Happy Thoughts

The word "Friday" carries with it happy connotations. Even if you don't have a rosy weekend all planned out, it's hard not to feel a sense of relief at the opportunity to live the next two days in complete freedom.

If you're type A like myself (and plan every detail out until you're thoroughly stressed and strangled by your own doing), there's still a sense of excitement at the chance to do whatever the heck you want when the clock stikes 5:00—planned or otherwise.
Fridays are all about letting go of whatever stress you've been through during the week and embracing some time to just be.

Ethereal Hippy

First let me just say that I am completely ignorant about copyright and such things. I plan on lifting a great deal of pictures off the internet in an effort to show you snapshots of things that inspire me. Is that so bad? If you have any tips on the subject, please let me know.

Today's theme is Ethereal Hippy. These pictures are beautiful in their own simple way and have inspired me to start working on a new fasinator. Images that come to mind: A dragon fly wing, a garden party, stringed lanterns and a faded bouquet.

My very first fascinator...

Hello all, and when I say "all" I mean it in the most general sense of the word. I'm pretty sure my blog has yet to capture any lucky readers, but until then I'm obliged to share a picture of my first fascinator/hair clip that I made last week. I have to admit that crafting has gone to my head just a bit. I can't seem to stop designing new hair accessories. It probably has something to do with it being racing season! Do you have any favorite hair accessories? If so, feel free to share.

Barbie Goes for a Gallop...

Now, call me weird for adding these two photos to my cute little "inspiration" blog but I couldn't resist snapping them on a recent Saturday drive through my mom's small town in San Diego county. As we passed a house with several cars parked out front, I saw something curiously adorning the front of an old minivan. We backed up in order to get a better look and I'm glad we did because if not, we would have missed this extremely odd union of Barbie and colt. Sure it's wrong on many levels, but it's also pretty darn amazing.
